Sheriff's Report

Sheriff's Report Number 443- Carter Street call advises of female trying to hurt mother with a knife, FPD to same. Strange noises on Brazos, Lady home alone, fears break-in, WPD Ladusau to same. Tree down, blocking FM-2547, TxDOT to same. Deputy Aldrich to FM-489, 16 year old assaulted by 19 year old. 15 head of loose horses, FM-3059. Car vandalized on S. 3rd, WPD to same.

Deputy Elom and DPS Adams to roll-over, Mile 192. Doctor Chopper activated, carried to Waco, one pronounced dead at Hillcrest Hospital. Another accident, FCR-941. Fairfield VFD and FEMS resonding to both of these accidents. Well spewing loud, increasing, giving off black smoke, ground reported rumbling, FM- 489 at FCR-681. Family Troubles on Hwy. 14, husband refused to bring kids back to mother. That one will have to be decided by the court, after the attorneys hash and argue it out.

Deputies and FPD to troubles on McDonald. Complaint of Lady messing with another's house on Heather. Call comes in from Navarro County, paint thrown on house, mud all over floor, FM-416. Employee on drilling rig shows up drunk, causes problems, leaves enroute to Tyler. All Officers attempt to find him, unsuccessful in effort.

Call comes in from a Boy Scout group, multiple vehicles, north bound on IH- 45. A Jeep has gotten into their convoy group, not part of their convoy, send officer to make him move out of their group of vehicles. Sorry, no can do. He has as much right to drive on that public roadway as anybody else, as long as he violates no laws. Perfectly legal for him to be there.

Man 911's, advises he is being held prisoner, Deputy Shipley to same. Seems he has no job, has a few problems, was told if he would turn over his $450.00 check to the owner of a camper trailer out in the woods, then the owner said he would furnish food, water, plus the camper to live in……Apparently, he did get usage of the camper……But the poor rascal hadn't had a bath in three weeks and little or no food. He was afoot, unfamiliar with the area, and apparently unable to make rational decisions. He was brought to the lobby of the Jail and fed……Did I mention food…..It didn't stand a chance in front of him, nearly starved! His mother was contacted in Livingston, she sent the money for a bus ticket, and we carried him to catch his ride…..Hopefully, his future will turn around.

FPD Bass to Love's, 87 year old man there, doesn't know his own name or where he lives. Mexia EMS to Wortham, visiting niece having a seizure. Teague Officers and Deputies to Adams Street, report of one man shooting at another. Roping calf gets loose from Teague Rodeo Arena. FEMS to Anderson Lane, Lady fell, thinks broke ankle. Donie and Teague VFD's to grassfire, FCR-754.

When I came into the Office this morning was told of the passing of Mr. Dale Huffman. Dale was one of those men that I wish I'd gotten to know better, earlier. One of the most polite and unceasingly well-mannered men I've ever known. Strictly of the old school, ever-friendly, always greeted you with a smile, and had that special knack of conveying true friendship when you saw him and a real sense that he was truly glad to see you. Those last two are what's important. Few of us have that……But he surely did.

FEMS to FCR-534, Lady struck head when fell. Man turns self in to start serving Jail Time. Alarm going off at Dew School…..No burglary, no fire, just one of those Tugwell boys on the roof! Kirvin VFD to grassfire, FCR-1054.

Mexia EMS to Wortham, catheter troubles. DPS Zotz jails drunk driver on charge of Intoxication Assault as result of accident, FCR- 1501. Officer Ladusau to Wood Street on complaint of stolen lawn mower. Teague VFD and THDEMS to Heights, man passed out. Dep. Harrison to possible prowler, FCR-841. Strange smells reported in the neighborhood on Spruce.

Deputies Anderson and Shipley arrest husband on East 84, wife terrified, had been struck multiple times, man drinking two days, house trashed out by him. Tree limbs in high line, FCR-540. Mexia EMS and Wortham VFD to N. 5th, chest pains.

Deputies Robert and Diana Willis, Clayton Aldrich and Robert Elom involved in multiple narcotics arrests in very short period of time. The initiating Deputies were off-duty, observed a dope deal being made, recognized it as such, took appropriate action, leading to the arrest of three…..Three down! A phone call came in on one of the arrestees cell phone, answered by a Deputy, a female wanting to buy a hundred dollars worth of dope….The response? " Yeah, sure thing, come on down, we'll be waiting." Sure enough, she came down, waving a hundred dollar bill in her hand, sticking out of her vehicle window. The Deputies approached, her eyes widened in surprise…..Nope, it wasn't against the law to wave the hundred dollar bill, but the Marijuana in her box of cigarettes was…..Four down!....Read on, read on…..Lastly a person who figured in the original arrest of the threesome is stopped. This leads to the search of his residence nearby…..More Meth is then located…..Five Down! A total of eight Narcotics Possession charges by five people in less than 30 minutes. All Hands…..Very Good Indeed!

Call comes from VA, their Crisis Hotline has man on other end threatening to harm self with knife. Atmos to low gas pressure problems, Teague. This was at 2AM in morning. Atmos having to go door to door, banging on doors, trying to gain entry to check pilot lights. Many 911 Calls on same, wanting officer present to guarantee not a hoax just to gain entry. WPD Peters to stolen trailer on Ave. C. Deputy Harrison and JP Beth Ireland to Natural Death. Also to loud music in Southern Oaks.

DPS to trucker/girlfriend troubles, Mile 194, she left his company, mother enroute to pick her up. Stray dogs take over empty shed on Service Road, owner having problems with their aggressive manner. Loose goats, Overpass, West of Teague. Deputy Harrison to suspicions of prowlers, FCr-841. Reserve Deputy McGowan to/from Limestone County, prisoner transport. FEMS to possible overdose, FCR-217.

TPD Cox and Solly to Filmore, two fighting. Streetman and Southern Oaks VFD to tractor fire, FM-3059. FPD to Unwanted Visitors, McDonald Street. FPD to Brookshire Brothers, one man reported pointing gun at another. Deputy Shipley to North 45, two 4- Wheelers stolen out of shed. Deputy Thomas Hendrix to FCR-930, car abandoned, wheels and tires missing, found to have been stolen in Teague. Loose cattle, FM- 488 at FM-416.

Fairfield VFD to car on fire, FM-27, Fairfield Clinic. More gas pressure troubles in Teague, latenight. THDEMS to S. 10th, Lady with altered state of consciousness. Snake reported coming up apartment's exterior stairs, Wortham, Deputy Harrison to assist. Cows reported out FM-488, FM- 27. In checking with other counties, all having same problem, dry weather and poor fences the problem. Sheriff Les Cotton of Navarro County says they spend "98%" of their time……chasing cows!

FEMS to FCR-233, old friend not doing well. FEMS to Boyd Unit, Inmate with critically low red blood cell count. TPD solly to Sandy Oak, man reports someone broke into house, tore it up, busted out the windows. 911 comes in from Leon County, Lady stopped by unmarked car, he is yelling at her, Leon County advised. Deputies Aultman and Diana Willis arrest man on FCR-976 on Aggravated Sexual Assault Warrant.

TPD Martin arrests driver, three outstanding City of Teague Warrants. TPD Solly arrests another, Making Alcohol Available To A Minor. Another tragic accident, FM-488 at FM- 833, DPS Burell, Deputy Harrison, FEMS, Fairfield VFD and JP #2 Debbie Hamilton to same, one deceased. Officer Peters advised drunk threatening to burn a house down in Streetman. Man on Big Lake has catfish fin stuck in hand. Peach truck broke down, Mile 196, help enroute. Problem cows, FM-488 at FM-416. Man and woman arrested on Palmore by TPD Solly, Controlled Substance, Evading Arrest, Stolen Vehicle, brought to Jail. That usually ends it…..Not this time….The woman tied a sheet around her neck, tied herself to the bars with plastic bag out of trash can, threatened to hang herself…. the list goes on and on. Finally bonded out by her attorney.

Southern Oaks VFD and FEMS, Dep. Elom and Game Warden Thorne assisting with child at Fisherman's Point, foot cut severely. Doctor Chopper, FEMS and Fairfield VFD assist man who fell from roof, FCR-510. Lady overheats at Antioch Cemetery…..thermostat troubles…..her own, not her vehicle's! Fairfield and Teague VFD's both assisting. FEMS, Fairfield VFD, Doctor Chopper assist on FM-488, horse fell on 13 year old. Streetman VFD to Navarro County, FM-2340, large grass fire…..Folks, it's dry. As a matter of fact, we are about in the same condition now that we were some months back. Please refrain from any types of fire.

More loose horses, FM- 3059, owner enroute. Lady on Cypress having troubles with ex-boyfriend and his friend, TPD Reed to same. Spanish speaking man reports being beat up, truck stolen at workplace. Vehicle later found, FCR- 941. Dew VFD assists getting 86 year old man out of the floor, Old 75. TPD Reed to family problems on Pine.

Streetman VFD to hay baler on fire, FM-80. FPD to Love and Fount Kirby, man advised was threatened with a gun.

I have visited with a few of those who volunteer with the County Fair. All had about the same frame of mind…..No, they haven't recovered physically as of yet. Yes, those first few night after Fair's end they were exhausted. Each stuck to the same line…."Maybe in about two more weeks, I'll have a little more energy and start feeling normal." As you see them, thank them for their efforts.
