Athletes host summer track

Two Fairfield athletes who are running college track are heading up a summer track program here for boys and girls ages 5-18.

Coaching the program are Gavan Bass and Alfraid Manning.

Bass long jumps and also runs the 100- and 200-meter dashes, and on the sprint relay team at McMurry University, as well as playing football.

Manning runs the 400- meter dash and on the 1,600-meter relay team at Huston-Tillotson University.

Summer track participants will compete at several meets in Waco and the surrounding area. The region summer meet is July 10-11 in Waco.

Workouts are from 8:30-10 a.m. Monday and Wednesday at the Fairfield high school track. Workout times may change, however, depending on the number of athletes.

Cost is $30 per person and includes a track Tshirt, Texas Amateur Athletic Federation card and instruction through the region meet.
