We conducted a Warrant Roundup on Wednesday. Probation Warrants, Nonsupport, Assault, Credit Card Abuse, etc. The forerunner seemed to be Non-Support of their children as ordered by the Judge. Some of those brought in did their best to convince us that the Warrant was in error, etc., etc. Now, there was one bright spot…..One Lady showed up at the Lobby ready to turn herself in, do anything necessary to rectify the situation. She did this completely unescorted, no Deputy with her, merely because she had been told by others that Deputies were looking for her…..It turned out, that we did not have a Warrant for this particular Lady, she just happened to share the same first and last names as another, for whom we most certainly did hold a Warrant on. I appreciate her willingness to be a Good Citizen. Told her thanks for her honesty and trying to do right…..That apparently is more than I can say for the other Lady, with exactly the same name, and in whose name, that particular Warrant exists!
Donie VFD to grassfire, FM-80. Attention all Fish Fry Lovers- Donie Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting their Annual Fish Fry, June 13th…… a Saturday, starts at 6PM. The address is 328 Worthy Street. It'll be good, don't miss it. They do an excellent job in that corner of the County. And by the way, they help our friends in Leon and Limestone County a bunch, too. So don't let a County Line stop you from coming. They don't, when responding to a fire call, stop when they get to the County Line. They keep a comin', trying to save life, injury and property. *D-Day, June 6th. On this same date in 1944 thousands of young men landed in occupied France on the Normandy coast. The biggest armada of ships ever assembled. A united effort by the Allies. Tragically, many would lose their young lives that day. There were many invasions during this Second World War, but this was the one that would live on in everybody's mind. Most came by ship, some by parachute. English, Free French, Polish, American, Canadian….they all participated. Thank Heavens they did. In eleven months they, in conjunction with mighty Soviet armies attacking from the East would bring Nazi Germany to surrender. Those young men of 1944 are now old, their youth gone, succumbing to the grave daily.
Deputy Harrison to 1st in Wortham, man on bicycle reported carrying stuff out of a house, turned out to be his, but at 3:15 AM it looked mighty suspicious. Loose horse, US-84, Teague. Deputy Robert Willis views Lady Driver with two kids, driving shoulder to shoulder down IH-45. Almost took out bridge column at Mile 189. The big surprise was that she was not drunk…..Had just taken a newly prescribed medication. FEMS and Dew VFD both also on scene. Lady embarrassed. Husband called, over a hundred miles away……Yes, yes, be happy to pick her and the kids up. This does not happen often, a one in a million deal, but the medicine brochures, always in the very small print, tells of possible side effects. All of us have some type of medicine that we just can't take, but we never bother, the print is just too small, we can't understand some of the wording, we just don't take the time. I'm no different, I don't read 'em either!

Woman calls from IH-45, husband flipped out, threw her out of the car and left….with their 9 month old Baby. She was carried to a Motel. Husband later returns, locates her, drops off the Baby…..Gone again!.....And she's a long way from Colorado!
Deputy Elom to FCR-500 on window broken while family gone, nothing missing. Family Troubles in Thousand Oaks, Lady wants to speak to an Officer. Deputies Willis and Elom plus THDEMS to Family melee on FM-80. 60 year old father trying to prevent grown son from leaving residence due to very great intoxication. They fought over the car keys physically for some minutes and Son was finally able to wrest the vehicle keys from Dad. Dad gets up, but now without the keys. Son pushes Mom to the side, gets in a pickup, and starts backing out of the garage. Son manages to knock Dad against a wall, with the vehicle door, and scrubs him with the vehicle in reverse. Son forgot about the garage door…..It was down! Through it he went, in reverse. He came to a stop in the yard. Apparently, some inkling of injury to his Dad finally started to sit in about here as he exited the vehicle, rather than driving off…..It was only fleeting as his next move was to walk to the front door of the house, sit down and drink a beer. He was immediately arrested upon the Deputies arrival for Assault Family Violence. The preceding could have been the script for a Laurel and Hardy movie. Many will find it humorous, but I feel greatly for the Mother and Dad. Son needs to change his very abnormal lifestyle. At 30 plus years he pulled the stunt of a four year old. The most basic premises and groundwork for all of our present day laws were handed down to Moses eons ago. They are the central theme for laws in every country world-wide…..One of those Ten Commandments . . . Honor Thy Father and Mother! Son needs to do much self-examination, while in our Jail…..and after he leaves.

Until Next Week . . . RALPH BILLINGS
