Woman hurt critically in rollover wreck
A 1-vehicle rollover wreck sent three Teague residents to the hospital last week, one of them with critical injuries.
The wreck occurred 6.8 miles west of Teague on U.S. 84 at 12:05 a.m. Wednesday, May 3.
The Department of Public Safety accident report shows that Doyle Van Winkle was eastbound on U.S. 84 in a 1970 International Scout when he braked and swerved to the right to avoid hitting a deer that was crossing the highway.
The evasive action resulted in the vehicle rolling at least one time, coming to rest on its left side.
Passengers in the vehicle, Amy Van Winkle, 37, and Jackie Goodwin, 46, were ejected in the wreck.
The DPS reports that Mrs. Goodwin, riding in the back seat, was not wearing a seat belt.
Mrs. Goodwin was transported by medical helicopter to Hillcrest Hospital in Waco for treatment and underwent surgery Thursday.
The Van Winkles were taken by ambulance for treatment at Hillcrest.
