Fairfield soft ball team, with Joe Chavers pitching, whipped the Wortham boys to a fare-you-well, Tuesday night at Wortham, the score being 11-4.
DONKEY BASEBALL

The soft ball club is sponsoring a "donkey' baseball game at 3 o'clock Sunday at Moody Park.
"Donkey" ball games have been played in various towns in Texas, and are said to furnish unusual amusement.
The promoters furnish the donkeys and supervise the game.
The players who will engage in the donkey game are: Dickie Eubanks, Peyton McAdams, Willard Manahan, Joe Chavers, Charles Stubbs, Jr., Charlie Parker, Roy Childs, Son Lott, John Alderman, Jr., Herman Middleton, Ray Watson, Hulen Kirgan, Mervil Woods, Ramon Patches, Roy Kelly, Jr., Carl Day, Patches Harding and Furney Glazener.
A small fee will be charged to help finance night baseball.
YOUNG COUPLE WED

William Howard Lott and Miss Annie Lee Robertson were married by Eld Willis Young at his home in Fairfield at 9 o'clock, Saturday, June 2, in the presence of a large gathering of friends and relatives.
Immediately after the ceremony they left on a short trip to Belton, Temple and other points. They will make their home with Mrs. J.A. Cates near Fairfield.
William Howard is a young farmer, the son of the late Oscar Lott. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tucker Young, Fairfield.

ATTENDS FASHION
MARKET IN DALLAS
Mrs. Roger Ivy was among more than 5,000 buyers and retailers who attended the American Fashion Association's Fall and Back-to-School Market in Dallas Monday and Tuesday of last week.
More than 750 lines of women's and children's apparel were exhibited by the association members in the Adolphus and Baker hotels.
A highlight of market week was the Fashion Merchandising Clinic, presented in the Crystal Ballroom of the Baker Hotel Monday and Tuesday nights.

WRECK BLOCKS
US 84
An accident shortly after lunch time on Thursday created a two or three day problem for railroad and highway crews when the concrete support of the railroad crossing of Highway 84 west of Teague was knocked down in a two-vehicle crash.
What might have resulted in serious injuries for the drivers left both relatively unharmed.
A work crane was being moved to the site by Burlington-Northern Railway Company and, according to reports, the highway would remain closed until repairs could be completed.

CONTINUES IN
MURDER CASE
Fairfield police continue investigating the murder on S. Bateman Road last week of Christine Burns Gibson, 64, who was found shot to death in her home.
The murder occurred on Tuesday, June 1, and was discovered by Roger Gibson, husband of the victim, Police Chief Ronny McAdams reports. The couple lived at 811 S. Bateman.
McAdams is releasing few details of the homicide until his department completes its investigation.
An autopsy was ordered after the death was discovered and police officers have spent the past week conducting interviews with family members and neighbors of the couple.
Mrs. Gibson a Freestone county native, had lived in Houston and Fairfield, and owned C's Beauty Shop in Fairfield.
