Fairfield FFA competes

Four teams from the Fairfield high school FFA chapter head to state competition this month after placing high in Area 8 contests.
The Area 8 contests were held last week at Tarleton State University in Stephenville.
Advancing to state are the Fairfield FFA floriculture, land judging, horse judging and livestock judging teams.
The floriculture team place third at area, with Kathleen Chappell placing as seventh high individual and Morgan Fuller placing as 10th high individual. Rounding out the team are Chelsea Farrell and Ashlee McGowan.
Fairfield won the land judging team contest and team member Jack Wright was top individual, with teammate James Sherman taking seventh high individual honors. Rounding out the team are Kory Jumper and Jacob Cain.
The horse judging team of Robin Davis, Ashley Cannon, Cooper Vandiver and Jaymi McLeod placed second at area, with Miss Davis as third high individual.
MEMBERS OF THE LIVESTOCK judging team placed seventh at competition and included, l-r, FFA Advisor Steve Black, Cory Black, Jaelan Gilbreath, Kayse Kirgan and Daniel Wood. Fairfield took seventh place in wool judging, held in San Angelo. The team consists of Joe Moore, Haley Plemons, Kendall Villarreal and Zach Henry.
State contests are set this Saturday at Texas Tech University for horse and wool judging, April 23 at Tarleton for land judging, April 24 at Sam Houston State University for floriculture and April 25 at Texas A&M University for livestock judging.
The Fairfield business management team of Jim Davidson and Elizabeth Cooper finished 12 at area competition.
Finishing 20th at area was the poultry team of Riley Davidson, Bonner Peterson, Lucas Chavers and Matthew Peine.
The dairy foods team of Cheyenne Robinson, Sally Taylor, Garrett Henson and Jacob Taylor finished 23rd at area.
