Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor:

When I was going to school I learned that we had a government "of the people, for the people and by the people."

Apparently, our elected representatives in Austin find "the people" to be an uncomfortable thorn in their sides. A proposed bill before Byron Cook's House Committee on Environmental Regulation would eliminate the right of the public to participate in (think interfere with) the process of permitting new power plants in the State of Texas.

The hearing on that bill was scheduled before the committee on Wednesday, April 8, but as of this date remains pending. Regardless of outcome, and whether or not it makes it to the full legislature, the intent is in itself alarming.

I have a fantasy that those politicians up in Austin are sitting around trying to figure out how to rid themselves of the pesky populance to make their lives easier. I guess they forget they work for us.

* * * * * Dear Editor:

I would like to share this letter I have written to President Obama and would urge everyone to voice their opinions on the issues dear to their hearts.

Dear President Obama:

I feel compelled to write to urge you to give us our country back! The land of the free and the home of the brave! One nation under God!

When I heard the President of the United States of America exclaim that we are not a Christian nation but a nation of civilians, my blood ran cold and I felt an anger that I haven't felt before! I truly cannot believe I heard those words. I felt almost as shocked and angry as when I heard Reverend Wright say God d___ America!

What has happened to the strong Christian morals and standards we grew up abiding by? I agree with Glen Beck that the major problem with this country is that we have strayed from God! Remember that our country was founded on Judeo-Christian principles! I pray daily for the Lord to bless and guide you to make the wise Christian decisions to bring out country back!

Please stop the spending, support free enterprise and stop the murdering of innocent, precious unborn babies! Utilize our own natural resources! Abide by the laws and principles so dear to us and deport the people who have entered our country illegally, while focusing on providing for the many citizens in our country that need help!

Thank you for your time and consideration!

God bless America! From the heart!
