The Fairfield high school Lady Eagles varsity track team ran to a first place finish and the junior varsity squad was third in its division Saturday at a meet held at Palestine Westwood.

Fairfield varsity thinclads totaled 162.5 points for the win, with second place John Tyler earning 130.5

Other varsity team totals were: Palestine, 113; Trinity, 62.5; Westwood, 59; Corsicana, 31; Woden, 25.5; Oakwood, 0; and Slocum, 0.

The FHS jv squad totaled 63 points for third, behind first place Westwood, 148, Oakwood, 91.

Rounding out jv team totals were: Corsicana, 53; Woden, 11; and Slocum, 5.

Lady Eagles varsity members brought home gold medals in six events, five of them individual and the other in the mile relay.

Winning two events was distance runner Lilly Duarte, with a time of 5:39 minutes in the 1,600-meter run and 12:23.6 in the 3,200-meter run.

In the 800 meters, Shelby Wickens ran a time of 2:31.68 for gold.

Fairfield pole vaulter Kortney Ballew cleared the bar at nine feet to win and Jazzmin Hatcher cleared four feet, eight inches to win the high jump.

The 1,600-meter relay team of Kirstie Brewer, Kiresten Cox, Shelby Wickens and Barvion Wyatt turned in a time of 4:21.65 to win the event by a margin of six seconds.

Taking first place in discus in jv competiton was Christy Harper with a throw of 73-1.4.

Middle distance runner Desiree Hodges turned in a time of 2:45.56 to win the jv 800-meter dash.

A time of 17:23.1 won gold in the jv 3,200-meter run for Amber Lehman.
