Falling tree wrecks truck north of town
A Freestone county man escaped serious injuries last Thursday when a tree fell and collided with his pickup truck on FM 2547 north of Fairfield.
The accident occurred at 5:18 a.m. during a rain and wind storm that blew through the area.
Driving south on FM 2547 when the wreck occurred was Eric Minze, 42, who lives on the road.
Minze was southbound on the 2-lane road when he happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, as an oak tree crashed across the road.
The 42-year-old took evasive action but could not avoid a wreck.
The tree pinned the vehicle, a 2006 Chevrolet pickup, on the road until help arrived. Texas Department of Transporation workers cut the tree off the truck.
Minze sustained a laceration to his head but did not need medical treatment.
