On this date, March 26th of the year 1918, the women of Texas started coming out of the kitchen and into the mainstream….. ATTENTION ALL LADY READERS….Please skip the rest of this paragraph, this is intended for men only, thank you very much…….And if any of this is mentioned to me by a Lady, I'll know you cheated!...... Okay, MEN ONLY read the following….. You see boys, this was the day that they started cleaning the biscuit dough off their hands and from beneath their fingernails! Governor Will Hobby signed the Bill giving women the right to vote that date. Since then, we've had Lady Governors, Lady Representatives and Senators at both levels, State and National. Why, right here at our own Courthouse, those girls have most of the jobs sewed up. Apparently, we locally put much faith in their judicial ability….Every JP (4), the County Judge and one of the District Judges are all of the female gender. The only male holdout is Pat Simmons, our other District Judge, and he had a tough run against another Lady for the post. Boys, it looks like our lot in life may be changing completely. I guess we'll just have to live with 'em, as is. As the number of new fields they've conquered has increased, the number of homemade biscuits has decresed. They're out of the kitchen and into the mainstream with definiteness! I fear that the art of Homemade Biscuits will be totally unknown within another 20 years! Why, do you realize that we today produce more wheat, flour and milk than at any time within our history? All three strong necessities in baking. But do we use it here at home? Heavens, no! We export it to other countries, so their fellers can have homemade biscuits. Our girls today waste little time in baking….Out of a plastic bag, straight into the oven…..Out comes the finished product in 20 minutes at 400 degrees. I sure hope the manufacturers don't ever misplace THEIR recipe! One thing about our modern baking habits…..It has made it safer in the home for us men. Safer, you ask? Why, sure!. When was the last time that you saw or heard of any two-fisted He-Man being struck by his wife with a wooden rolling pin? We all know they don't have 'em or use 'em anymore. And another thing…..These women today must be tougher than us boys…..It seems I see more of them with tattoos now, than I do us fellers! Looks like we'll just have to get along to get along. Does anybody out there have a wooden rolling pin they could spare? I'd just like to have one to mount on the wall beside Grandpa's muzzleloader. You know, a little nostalgia…..

ATTENTION LADY READERS- You may restart your reading here. Thank You for your forbearance and patience!….Word received in our Dispatch of a man showing up at the Lew Sterett Justice Center in Dallas wearing a pair of handcuffs, asking that they be removed, as he had no key…..Said a woman put them on him….Dallas S.O. inquiring over entire area whether anyone missing a prisoner!
