5 under par wins weekly senior golf

It took a score of just five strokes under par to win the weekly senior golf scramble at Big Cedar Country Club.

The event featured 21 players divided into five teams.

Format was for each team to scramble its drive, or play from the best drive in the group, then golfers would play their own ball. Lowest two scores were recorded on each hole.

Members of the winning team were Paul Luna, Amos Jones, Frank Houseman and J. Houseman.

Placing second at four under par was the team of J.R. Wagner, Scott Newberry, George Cockrell and Bill McCain.

A scorecard playoff determined the third place team when two groups shot three under par. Members of the winning team were Tom Donaldson, Gary Schnoor, Less Hobbs, Jim Terry and Tony Brackens.

The senior scramble is played at 9 a.m. each Wednesday at Big Cedar. Players must register in advance with the pro shop.
