Cattle showman gets another win
FAIRFIELD HIGH SCHOOL freshman student Brady Johnson, a member of Fairfield 4-H Club, showed the grand champion Chianina steer last week at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Fairfield high school freshman student Brady Johnson kept his winning streak alive at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo last week by exhibiting the grand champion Chianina breed champion steer.
Over the past three years at the Houston show, Johnson has exhibited two breed champions and a reserve breed champion.
A total of 300 steers were judged in the Chianina breed show last week.
Johnson's 1,295-pound champion animal brought $24,000 at auction, of which he is allowed to receive $15,000 and the remainder goes to the livestock show scholarship program.
The freshman student also showed the reserve grand champion steer at the Freestone County Fair last year and the grand champion steer in 2007.
Outside showing steers, he plays junior varsity and select baseball and was a member of the freshman basketball team.
Johnson is a member of First Baptist Church of Fairfield, Fairfield FFA and Fairfield 4-H Club, through which he shows livestock.
He is the son of Jerry and Chifawn Johnson of Fairfield.
