The Fairfield junior high school Lady Eagles seventh grade track team claimed first place and the eighth grade team was third in its division in their season debut meet at Palestine Westwood.

Results from the meet, run Feb. 27, were not released to coaches until last Thursday.

Lady Eagles seventh grade thinclads scored 158 points to speed past second place Westwood, 138 points. Other team totals were; Mount Pleasant, 124; Athens, 97; T.K. Gorman, 48; and Brownsboro, 31.

The FJHS team won three events in the meet.

Claiming the gold medal in long jump, with an effort of 13 feet, six inches, was Tiara Tatum.

The triple jump went to Bree Bossier who covered 26-5.25.

Distance runner Megan Hodges ran the 1,600- meter race in 6:22.5 minutes to take first place.

The eighth grade Lady Eagles tallied 95 points to finish third behind Mount Pleasant, 174, and Lufkin, 127.75. Other team totals were: T.K. Gorman, 90.75; Westwood, 57; Athens, 24.75; Crockett, 21; and Brownsboro, 18.75.

Picking up the only gold medal for the eighth grade team was Natalie Neill, running the 1,600-meter race in 6:36.7.
