Signups open for FJHS golf
Signups opened this week for Fairfield junior high school students, boys and girls, to join the golf program.
Junior high golf is open to students in grades 5-8 and runs to the end of April.
Practices at Big Cedar Country Club start Monday, April 6.
All golfers must provide their own equipment and must have transportation to and from the course.
Heading up the pro- gram for the fourth year is Steve Schlabra, assisted by Mary Alice Bonner and Cody Shaw.
Schlabra reports that golfers in the program must abide by the University Interscholastic League no pass-no play rule.
The program teaches young golfers, and beginners, the fundamentals of the game with a goal of preparing them for competition at the high school level.
Schlabra is planning to enter the FJHS teams in two tournaments this spring. He may be contacted at 903-879-2200.
