Laura Myers

LAURA LEE MYERS LAURA LEE MYERS Funeral services were held last week for Laura Lee Myers, 37, of Teague who died Monday, Feb. 9, at Providence Hospital in Waco.

Mrs. Myers was born in Nederland and was raised in Wharton county .

She graduated from Bay City high school in 1989 and attended Texas A&M University where she earned her bachelors degree in 1993 and her masters degree in 1995.

Mrs. Myers later earned her second masters degree from Stephen F. Austin University in 2000.

She married her husband Brett Myers on Nov. 19, 1994.

Mrs. Myers taught at Coolidge Independent School District, Navarro College and was currently employed with Teague where she also served as the twirling sponsor for the high school band.

She was passionate about fitness and exercised regularly. She also enjoyed photography and was an avid scrapbooker, a hobby she shared with her daughters.

Mrs. Myers taught herself sign language and worked with the deaf for over 15 years. She signed the Sunday morning worship services for Faith Baptist Church in Buffalo.

She was also an active member of the First Baptist Church of Teague. Mrs. Myers taught Sunday school with her husband, assisted with youth functions, led children's choir and taught Baptist Missions with her mother on Wednesday nights.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12, at the First Baptist Church in Teague with Shannon Hopkins and Darrel Beggs officiating.

Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Myers is survived by her husband of over 14 years, Brett Myers of Teague; daughters, Layne Grayson and Lauren Gabrielle Myers, both of Teague; mother, Barbara (Gram) Carter of Teague; mother-in-law, Lola Myers of Teague; fatherin law, Bobby Myers and wife Beth of Bullard of Teague; brother-in-law, Andy Myers of Teague ; and nephew, Cale Myers of Teague.

She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Yates Carter and her maternal grandmother, Edna Soefje.

same address.

Arrangements were made by Bowers Funeral Home of Teague.
