For those of you around Teague who might have been wondering about the McIntires…..Well, apparently they are both up and kicking in their new home in Denton County. They traveled to Pennsylvania in December, so no change, ready to go at the drop of a hat…..I wonder if he wore that one spectacular, particular tie on his trip…..Hmmmm. It was a thing of beauty, from his knees to his neck!

Happy 97th Birthday to Mr. Johnny DeFrance! A big Gathering of Family and Friends present to help him celebrate…..or maybe just there to eat his cake!....But, either way, he had quite a turnout present. One story I heard came from two brothers, about 50 years of age. They had come over to help with the celebration. It seems they lived far over in East Texas when growing up years ago, but deer hunted with Mister Johnny. One of them was supposed to come over on a weekend, with his dad, to go hunting. But Dad pulled an unexpected maneuver….. He got in the pickup, headed this way, but didn't bring that 10 year old son….The 10 year old was not to be deterred. He got mad, grabbed up his bundle of clothing, walked out to the highway and hailed down a Texas Bus Lines bus that he knew traveled to Fairfield every day at the same time. When the bus pulled over, he explained to the driver that he wanted a lift toward Fairfield….No, he didn't have any money…..And yes, he definitely knew where to tell the driver to stop. Times have changed since 1967, because that driver let him on the bus, and as soon as they passed Red Lake, the 10 year old said "Next house on the right." The driver stopped, the boy exited……And he and Mister Johnny went deer hunting. I imagine that his Dad was surprised when he showed up, wondering how that kid had engineered the transportation issue!
