FJHS girls win twice

To end cage season . . .

Lady Eagles cagers at Fairfield junior high school wrapped up the 2008-09 season with a pair of lopsided district wins over the Crockett Lady Bulldogs.

Only the A teams played last week.

The Fairfield eighth grade basketball team out pointed their opponents 43-8.

"The girls had a great season," coach Sally Hickerson says. "We learned a lot together and I'm excited to see these girls make an impact on the high school program next year."

Scoring in double digits for the Lady Eagles were Sadie Schaefer, 17 points, and Amy Lansford, 12 points.

Others scoring were: Jasmine Griffin, 7; Gabby Ransom, 4; and Kassi Floyd, 3.

Best offensive players were Misses Schaefer and Lansford, and best rebounder was Miss Griffin.

Coach Hickerson recognizes the entire team for its defensive play.

Lady Eagles seventh grade cagers blanked Crockett for four quarters, claiming a 54-0 season ending win.

"The girls had a lot of fun tonight. They showed off their long range skills with a few threes and the posts took care of the rest," coach Lia Frederick reports.

"It was a perfect game to finish a perfect season," she adds.

In double digits with 10 points each were Peyton Pierce, Tiera Tatum and Kayli Banks.

Others scoring were: Taylor Gray, 6; Bree Bossier, 6; Karonisha Lawry, 4; Madison Alexander, 4; Kendell Emmons, 2; and Amber Williams, 2.

Best offensive players were Misses Pierce, Tatum and Banks, top defensive players were Misses Gray, Williams, Lawry and Samantha Walls, and best rebounders were Misses Bossier, Alexander and Emmons.
