Grand jurors hear complaints
Felony drug possession and driving while intoxicated charges, plus a theft case against a former Fairfield city council member, lead a list of felony indictments handed down by the Freestone county grand jury.
The grand jury convened the last Wednesday in January for its regular monthly session.
Presenting charges was County Attorney Chris Martin, who took office at the first of the year.
Former Fairfield city council member Michael David Crockett, 40, of Oakwood was indicted on a felony theft charge.
The complaint contends that on Nov. 23 Crockett was in possession of three all-terrain vehicles and two deer feeders that are believed to have been stolen.
Crockett turned himself in at the Freestone county jail shortly after being indicted on the felony charges.
Other complaints heard were on charges of burgla- ry, evading arrest, failure to register as a sex offender, aggravated assault, tampering with physical evidence and DWI with a child passenger.
Rounding out the grand jury list are:
—Bobby Gates, 51, of Fairfield on a Nov. 14, 2008, charge of possession of methamphetamine.
—James Blake Granberry, 19, of Buffalo on a Nov. 14, 2008, charge of possession of methamphetamine.
—Christopher Dunbar, 20, of Teague on an Oct. 9, 2008, complaint of burglary of a habitation, the home of Wendy Mensch of Teague.
—Darryl James Dodd, 26, of Beaumont on a charge of evading arrest or detention on Nov. 11, 2008, allegedly fleeing a Department of Public Safety trooper on a reported speeding violation.
—Sheila Bulgawitz, 47, of Hockley on an Aug. 27, 2008, complaint of manufacture or delivery of cocaine.
—Brian Keith Warren, 41, of Corsicana on a charge of failure to register as a sex offender on Dec. 16, 2008, allegedly failure to notify Wortham police of an intention to move.
—Alberto O. Jiminez, 40, of Fairfield on a Dec. 7, 2008, charge of DWI. The indictment shows that Jiminez has two prior DWI convictions.
—Hugo Haroldo Reyes, 27, of Fairfield on a complaint of aggravated assault, allegedly chasing and threatening Kimberly Avendano with a pair of scissors, on Dec. 23, 2008.
—Shawn Dale Fourd, 34, of Mansfield, La., on a Dec. 27, 2008, charge of tampering with physical evidence, allegedly trying to hide suspected marijuana during a possession of marijuana investigation.
—James Weldon, 47, of Vidor on a complaint of possession of methamphetamine on Dec. 16, 2008.
—Orlando Wahlenberg, 44, of Lawton, Ok., on a complaint of DWI. The indictment shows Wahlenberg to have three prior DWI convictions.
—Phillip Newcom, 36, of Teague on a Dec. 29, 2008, charge of possession of methamphetamine.
—William Roy Demus, 67, of Teague on a charge of possession of cocaine on Dec. 21, 2008.
—David Glover, 48, of Teague on a charge of possession of cocaine on Dec. 21, 2008.
—Joshua Lynn Oney, 17, of Teague on a Dec. 6, 2008, charge of possession of cocaine.
—Shay Elliott Dixon, 18, of Teague on a Dec. 6, 2008, charge of possession of cocaine.
—Herbert L. St. Pierre III, 37, of Teague on three counts of DWI with a child passenger on Oct. 23, 2008.
Grand jurors issued a no bill on one felony charge, and identification of a suspect indicted on a charge of theft is being withheld pending arrest.
