At state debate meet . . .

Both Miss Johnson and Miss Jackson will go on to compete at the state meet this March. After placing first at the University Interscholastic League Cross-examination District Meet held in February, Fairfield high school students Lauren Jackson and Ginny Johnson qualified to compete in the UIL State Meet this March at the University of Texas in Austin.

Also placing at the district level were: 3, Caleb Grant; 3, Daniel Wood; 4, Kory Jumper; and 4, Garrett Ward.

Grant and Wood qualified as first place alternates for the state meet with Jumper and Ward filling in as second place alternates.

"UIL debate competition develops skills in our students that directly prepares them for real world situations by challenging their problem-solving and critical thinking abilities," said Jana Riggins, UIL Debate Director.
