Eagle varsity cagers win a pair
Over Palestine and Brownsboro . . .
      The Fairfield high school Eagles improved its post season playoff prospects last week by claiming a pair of District 20-AAA basketball wins over Palestine and Brownsboro. FHS cagers completed the first round of district Friday with a 2-3 record, tied with the Brownsboro Bears.

Lady Eagles beat state ranked team
To get back in playoff picture . . .
      The Fairfield high school Lady Eagles varsity basketball team battled their way back in to the District 20-AAA race for a post season playoff spot with a pair of victories last week. Lady Eagles cagers beat the Palestine Lady Wildcats early in the week and defeated the Brownsboro Lady Bears, ranked first in district and sixth in state standings, Friday.

      Three wins in three district games were notched last week by the Fairfield junior high school Eagles against the Palestine Westwood Panthers. Fairfield hosted the three district games. Seventh grade B cagers did not play.

Fairfield hosts area powerlifters
For first time in more than 20 years . . .
      In their first time hosting a meet in more than 20 years, the Fairfield high school powerlifting drew 197 entries to compete Saturday in the Fairfield Invitational. The meet included 11 boys' teams and seven girls' teams. "I've been in powerlifting for 23 years and this was, by far, the smoothest first meet I've ever had," FHS head coach Kevin Childers says.

FJHS girls get 4-game sweep
      The Fairfield junior high school Lady Eagles basketball teams swept the Palestine Westwood Lady Panthers last week, with one game going into overtime before a win was secured. FJHS cagers met the Lady Panthers in district games at Palestine.
