RUTH ANNE OATES Funeral services were held Saturday for Ruth Ann Oates, 63, of Fairfield who died Wednesday, Jan. 28, at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston.

Mrs. Oates was born in Dallas on Sept. 2, 1945 to Ted and Jesse Edwards Carter.

She attended Woodrow Wilson High School where she graduated in 1963.

Mrs. Oates lived in Waxahachie and Fairfield with her husband of 43 years, Gary.

She worked as a florist and was the first president of the Genealogical Society of Ellis County.

Mrs. Oates was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Fairfield.
