4 from FHS get bowl nods

Two members of the 2008 Fairfield high school Eagles football team and two cheerleaders have been invited to participate in the first annual Fellowship of Christian Athletes Super Centex Victory Bowl this summer in Waco.

Picked from FHS are Eagles free safety Dalton Piske, defensive end Keith Daniels and cheerleaders Kortney Ballew and Brittany Shamblin.

The game is Saturday, June 13, at Floyd Casey Stadium.

A total of 85 area football players and 20 cheerleaders, all graduating senior students, have been invited to participate in the game.

The FHS selections are part of the "Red Team" whose head coach is Johnny Tusa of Waco. The "Blue Team" is headed by Mark Bell of China Spring.

All proceeds from the game and banquet go to the Heart of Texas chapter of FCA.

Participants report for practices on June 10 and also will complete community service and put on a junior football and cheerleading camp.

The football players and cheerleaders also are to be honored at the FCA Victory Banquet on April 5 at the Ferrell Center of Baylor University.
