Scooter Long, local Windstream telephone man, very honored I have been told by former President George Bush….When Mr. Bush purchased the ranch in Crawford some years back, the telephone company sent Scooter to install all of the phone lines…..Well, after all, with him being President and such, we just couldn't expect him to be on a party line or anything like that! So anyway, Ol' Scooter, our home County Repairman, ended up installing all those wires in Crawford for young George. Scooter had his fling with the Rich and Famous and thought that chapter of his life was closed…...But he had not given thought to what might transpire when young George got eased out of his job and dwelling all on the same day in Washington. Evidently, Scooter made quite an impression…..'cause when George and Laura bought their little bungalow up in Dallas, he specifically demanded the services once again of our local phone Guy, Ol' Scooter….The only trouble was…. George couldn't get the name out of his memory bank exactly right……Nope, he asked specifically for "Tooter or Pooter or whatever his name was!" So…..Scooter….or Tooter….or Pooter Long, whichever one of those is most correct, we're proud of you. And by the way Scooter, if you're able to give young George that kind of service…..I fully expect InterNet service in our neighborhood pretty quick, now. I'll betcha George has it! And, you're the guy that gave it to him!
