To very informative meeting at Big Brown yesterday. Excellent presentation made on how they juggle wind power, nuclear, coal and natural gas electric plants in order to keep our State powered up during peak and non-peak hours. Our electrical grid is complex; at times we need nearly all the juice they are capable of producing, at other times they are capable of producing a great over-abundance…..but those are the hours of the day when not needed. Bottom Line…..Coalpowered plants are the backbone of our electrical producing capabilities. We can turn them up or down as the need exists each day, for our guaranteed power needs . As a nation, we are starting to make use of wind and solar, but this is still in its infancy. It would appear to a novice like myself that solar may be the cleanest way to go, but developing technology has got to make it more affordable for us…..That'll handle 12 hours of the day….If we could figure out the remaining 12 the problem would be solved!
