Senior Moments
It is so hard to believe that January is coming to an end! Time really flies these days.
With so many different sources of health information available-- many of them online-- it can sometimes be difficult to tell fact from fiction or health products and services from those that do not work or may not be safe.
The FTC (Federal Trade Commission) has created a web site to help individuals find reliable sources of information.
If you are an older consumer, a family member, caregiver or friend, you can:
--Find links to agencies and organizations that care about topics like generic drugs, hormone therapy, care giving, surgery to improve vision, alternative medicine, hearing aids, Medicare fraud, and medical ID theft;
--Learn how to spot misleading and deceptive claims; and
--Find out who you can contact to ask questions, enlist help or speak up if you think a health product or service is not living up to its promises.
You should always talk about your health-related decisions with your doctors and other trusted health care providers. The web site is www.ftc.gov/whocares
