Letter to the Editor
Dear Editor:
I have geologists in my family and can certainly relate to the drilling companies getting as many drilling opportunities as they can to make a living. However, the exception they are requesting to drill closer to the lake is not acceptable in my opinion.
Tarrant County has had very strict rules when it comes to keeping this lake clean and environmentally safe. Once an exception is granted, many more will come.
Poisonous gas signs will have to be posted near these wells. This would be a detriment to property values in this area.
It is my understanding that the oil companies have alternate ways to drill and still stay a safe distance from homes and the lake; however, they don't want to spend the money. I strongly oppose the drilling of sour gas wells in these areas for health reasons and property values.
