Businesses and governmental offices will observe a general closing Thursday in observance of New Year's Day.

Most locations will reopen for business on Friday.

Post Offices plan to close for New Year's Day and reopen on Jan. 2.

Schools throughout the county are closed for the Christmas break but are to reopen next week. Fairfield and Wortham classes resume Monday, while Teague and Dew students return to school on Tuesday.

The Fairfield Recorder will be closed Thursday and reopen Friday.
