Wortham native makes Pro Bowl
Wortham native Leonard Davis, an offensive lineman with the Dallas Cowboys, has been selected to the National Football League Pro Bowl for the second consecutive year.
Davis is a representative of the National Football Conference which will play the American Football Conference.
The Wortham native is picked as a reserve Pro Bowl player this year, not as a starter.
Davis, 30, is a graduate of Wortham high school and helped lead the Bulldogs to a Class A state basketball championship. As a Bulldogs football player he earned All-State honors on offense and defense and was a High School All-American.
The athlete attended the University of Texas on a football scholarship and earned first team All-American and consensus Big 12 first team honors.
He began his career at UT as a defensive lineman and converted to the offensive line.
Davis was the second overall pick in the 2001 NFL draft and played six years with the Arizona Cardinals until signing with the Cowboys as an unrestricted free agent in May 2007.
The lineman is six feet, six inches tall and weighs 354 pounds.
He is the son of L.A. and Sammie Lee Davis of Wortham.
Davis and his wife, Amanda, are parents of two daughters, Meeya and Mariya.
