Eagles jv takes tournament second
At Whitney over the weekend . . .
      Cagers on the Fairfield high school Eagles junior varsity basketball team claimed second place Saturday in the Whitney Tournament. The tourney was played Thursday and Saturday, featuring freshmen and jv teams.

      Subvarsity cagers on Fairfield high school Lady Eagles squads won twice and lost once in tournament action over the weekend at Robinson. The freshmen and junior varsity teams played separate tourney brackets and posted matching results.

Lady Eagles posting early 3-1 record
Blemish was against Class AAAA team . . .
      The Fairfield high school Lady Eagles varsity basketball team dropped a decision to Class AAAA Ennis early last week, but is posting a 3-1 record early in the season. "Ennis has a good squad back this year and we weren't quite ready," FHS head coach Tommy Fadal says.

      The Fairfield junior high school Lady Eagles opened the 2008-09 basketball season last week with a pair of games at Palestine. Only the eighth grade teams competed because Palestine does not have seventh grade squads. Lady Eagles A cagers dropped a 37-29 season debut decision.

Post win over Groesbeck Goats . . .
      A young Fairfield high school Eagles varsity basketball team started the 2008-09 season with a loss, but recovered by the end of the week to win a matchup against the Groesbeck Goats. The debut was against Bullard, ranked in the Class AAA top 20 in preseason polls.
