Jervis Manahan
Funeral services were held last Thursday for Jervis R. Manahan, 95, of Fairfield who died Monday, Nov. 3, at his residence.
Mr. Manahan was born in Fairfield on Feb. 24, 1913, to Jervis Green and Lottie Childs Manahan.
He graduated from Fairfield high school in 1933 and served as Professor of Technology and Drafting and Professor Emeritus at the University of Houston from 1948 to 1978.
Services were held Thursday, Nov. 6, at Calvary Baptist Church in Fairfield with Grayson Glass and Terry Skinner officiating.
Burial followed at Fairfield Cemetery with Buddy Turner, Clay McKee, Kyle Collins, Harold Massey, Warren Analt and Randall Whitaker serving as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers included Aubrey Childs, J.R. "Sonny" Sessions, Bobby McAdams, Wayne Donaldson, Jack Fischer, Billy Ray Vestal and Clifton Childs.
Mr. Manahan is survived by his wife of 66 years, Tigna Manahan of Fairfield; nieces and nephews, Kathleen and Jim McKee of Fairfield, Carol Ann and Bobby Biggar of Austin, Jacqueline and Paul Collins of Wortham, Elaine and Steve Stroube of Corsicana, Rick and Janice Richards of Burleson, Pam and Mike Scott of Seneca, South Carolina, Kathy and Stanley Blinka of Export, Pennsylvania, Tammy and Dan Griffin of Mexia, Sheron and Billy Bostic of Fort Worth, and Jim and Nora Ennis of North Carolina; and sister-in-law Macye Ennis of Fort Worth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Juliette Davis and her husband Uel L. Davis.
Arrangements were made by Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home of Fairfield.
