Speed limit rises to 75 along I-45 in Freestone County

Miles and miles of Texas highways, including Interstate 45 in Freestone and surrounding counties, will soon see speed limit increases following last week's Texas Transportation Commission action approving 75 mph designations for close to 1,500 miles of interstate.

ETMC helps study of device that could detect coronaries

The East Texas Medical Center Cardiovascular Institute has enrolled its first patient in a new trial sponsored by St. Jude Medical that will contribute to the study of a device that could help detect acute coronary syndrome events, such as a heart attack.

Gas prices continue rise in state, Fairfield sees prices as high as $3.49

Average retail gasoline prices in Texas have risen 7.5 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.31 per gallon. This compares with the national average that has increased 4.5 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.39, according to gasoline price website TexasGasPrices.com.

Prices in Fairfield are even higher this week -- ranging from $3.37 to $3.49 per gallon.

Randy and Susan Bruce of Teague are pleased to announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Melanie Lynn, to Colby Reece Whitman, son of Kathy and Robert Lees and Russell and Toni Whitman.

Melanie is a 2002 graduate of Teague High School and graduated with her bachelor’s of science in Kinesiology from Texas A&M University in 2006.

The disabilities include learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, speech impairment, visual and/or hearing impairment, physical impairment, emotional disturbance and autism.

Art gallery to host pop band
